Sherlockhomes.ch ad placement rules

Thank you for publishing your ad through our services. With sherlockhomes.ch, we provide you with an open platform where you can freely publish your housing offers. You are however responsible for your own ads. So please comply with our rules. They are simple, but important.

General rules

All ads are subject to Swiss legislation

Please comply with our rules

Swiss law is applicable to all ads and their content, specifically:

• Swiss Criminal Code (CC)
• Federal Unfair Competition Act (UCA)
• Federal Act on the Protection of Trademarks and Indications of Source (TmPA)
• Federal Act on Copyright and Related Rights (CopA)
• Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP)
• Privacy protection standards (particularly Article 28 of the Swiss Civil Code)
• Federal Act on the Transfer of Cultural Property (CPTA)

Acceptable purposes for your ads are as follows

Please comply with our rules

You can create ads for anything that

• fits into one of our categories

You can offer

• properties that legally belong to you and any services you provide on your own initiative
• properties you offer on behalf of the owner providing you can prove it is at their request

Do not publish ads that

• fakes or for any fraudulent purposes
• cultural property as defined in the ‘cultural property’ checklist by the Federal Office of Culture (FOC)

How to create your ad

Please comply with our rules

• Only create your ad in the relevant category
• Create one ad per offer or specific demand
• Create a single ad, and not several, for any one offer or specific demand
• Write the ad in German, French or English
• Specify the location
  • of the property

Please do not

use software or scripts to automate ad creation. This does not apply to disabled persons using adaptive technologies to assist them with standard operations.

Current rules for content in general

Do not include

• discriminatory or defamatory content targeting gender, language, background, religion or world view
• propaganda
• any form of defamation targeting specific people
• advertising for other websites or apps that offer similar services to those on sherlockhomes.ch

Please comply with our rules

• Only describe what you are offering

Do not include

• additional keywords that do not describe the offer or demand as such, but instead refer to the properties.

Current rules for images

Please comply with our rules

• Use your own images or ensure that you hold unrestricted publication rights

Do not upload images that

• do not show the property in question, or that are not directly related to the service in question
• involve people under the age of 18
• only show text or a logo
• contain contact information or web addresses in plain text or code. This does not include information
  • appearing on the property being offered at the time it was produced
  • appearing on objects needed to provide the service being offered, such as buildings or vehicles
• with indications of price, bank notes, coins or monetary symbols. This does not apply to images
  • in the category “Currencies”

Please comply with our rules

• Enter contact information and web addresses exclusively in the fields provided for this purpose
• For any fee-based value-added services (e.g. phone numbers, text messages), specify the fees incurred

Do not include contact information or web addresses

• in the title
• in the descriptive text
• in images

Current rules for prices

Please do not

• any purposefully excessive pricing, in an attempt to profit from emergency situations or pervading fears, temporary shortages or a short-term rise in demand.

Current rules for personal data protection

Do not publish ads that

• are used improperly to collect personal data, for example
  • contact information
  • interests
  • images

Additional rules relating to specific topics

Extremism

Do not publish ads that

• are extremist, totalitarian or racist (politically or religiously speaking) in nature or could be construed as propaganda. This would include for example
  • propaganda materials, such as posters, flags, insignia or media on which symbols or content that is totalitarian, racist or extremist in nature can be seen
  • products such as clothing, everyday objects or media on which symbols or content associated with extreme right-wing or extreme left-wing spheres can be seen
  • ads containing YouTube videos of totalitarian speeches

Exception: historical objects with museum significance

Breach of ad placement rules

In the event any of the ad placement rules are breached, the following actions will be taken

• The ad will be deleted
• The user’s account will be deleted
• The incident will be reported to the relevant authority if the content or intentions are in breach of Swiss legislation

No correspondence will be entered into regarding these decisions, and we do not pay compensation for any prepaid services or loss of earnings.
