Like London and Paris, Geneva is one of the European cities with the highest rents. It costs 30 euros/m2 to rent a flat in a district of Geneva, compared with 26 euros/m2 in the French capital, where property prices are very high. These prices per square metre are enough to show that Geneva is a very expensive city. Of course, but there are major disparities between the right and left banks, between the city centre and peripheral areas. So, which neighbourhood should you live in to limit the proportion of your budget spent on housing?
If you're looking to rent a flat at an affordable rent, you'll have to skip the most sought-after areas and, for the sake of clarity, the entire centre and east of the city.
